What is the fair use policy when using images found from the websites you mention. Is it copyright infringement to have students simply download images off the web. How can you avoid this?

You know what you are right; But in Australia students and teachers are very heavily protected by copyright infringement if they are using media for educational purposes. I am not an expert on international law but I cannot remember the last time a student was charged with any form of copyright infringement for doing school work. Generally companies enjoy any form of promotion.
